Tough old Craptic this issue. Was just about to ask for help with 19d (possibly the easiest clue!) when the penny dropped.

Always pleased to complete the Craptic - a proper cryptic crossword!

Reg - 19 was my POI (penultimate), at the opposite end of the spectrum cluewise to 27.

The Craptic is indeed a joy - I remember seeing puzzle no.1 and thinking, a war is imminent and they’re looking for code breakers 😁

Geeker - in fairness to you I should have given the 3 letters I had before solving it.
