A fun puzzle as always from Kruger. I was surprised at just how long ago the theme was current.

Well that was fun. Took me ages to get the pdm.

Can anyone help me parse

1d: Village part-time vegetable store to bear investigation? Nonsense (7)

I cannot see how this works at all.

Also 37a: Considered giving up marijuana although, at first, possibly took heroin (4).

I have the first three letters from crossers, but don't get this one either, with its multiple possibilities for the fourth letter.

Thanks vm for any hints!

Piffleworthy,
1d. Def. is 'nonsense'. Entry is a very obscure 3-letter word for a place where potatoes, etc are stored (you need to scroll to the last entry in Chambers), + 'to bear investigation'. If something doesn't bear investigation, we say 'It won't ????'

37a. Def. is the last 3 words. 'Considered', pondered, minus the first letter.

Very late to this, but wanted to publicly thank Kruger for a fab puzzle. I loved the programme in my early twenties and bought the DVDs years ago. I have kept my DVD player (and bought a spare) so that I can continue to watch this and the likes of Dad's Army and the Likely Lads. Mrs BC calls me a dinosaur but what cares I for praise? (to nick a Dylan line)
