The only one left is the one I posted earlier - "Mesmerised girl feeling superior to a man" and it's Trilby. Haven't read the book for many years but suddenly remembered Svengali. Trilby sort of makes sense, but it's a pretty obscure clue - not like the Times that I remember! "Superior to man" for hat???

Wasn’t it “felt superior to a man” as in it being a felt hat?
