I think I'm going to ask a 'leon question'! My last clue is 45A. THE.E..N. I've inspected so many top 100 lists!

That’s the one we were debating earlier in this thread. It may go with 24.

I note this morning that the published solution to 24d is indeed SAMURAI which we suspected, but as Cockie pointed out could have been another of the genre had it not been for 45a.
