5d. A suit an Acrobat might wear, three -letter zodiac sign at the beginning, annoyed expression reversed gives last 4 letters.
12 is very clever since psychics might listen for rapping noises when using these objects.

26 sounds like a word for pretending to be, eg Superman in the ????? of Clark Kent, saved Lois from falling.

Well, thought i might as well see if the actual puzzle was available online, and so it was.

All very odd and annoying.

So having completed it thanks to the pdf version from an early post in this forum I now filled in my answers in a ridiculously short 4 minutes 7 seconds.

But I am sure like most people on this forum it's the solving that is the fun.

I wonder what might work strangely next week?

Goodnight all.

Help from anyone would be much appreciated. Im completely stuck on 21d and 22d. I have a four letter synonym for burn, but can't see the vegetable. For 21 is *o*t correct? Which of the several types of ham - actor, radio or foodstuff? Thank you!

Hi Bob, your O wrong. “Ham” is definition by example. In the other one “burn” is the definition.

I can’t parse 17a, I’ve put something in but no idea if it’s right.

Best to give the clue.
It's an anagram of a word missing its last letter, plus the initial. The definition is just the last word, by example.

Bob are you in the UK? This is a leafy vegetable that has a different name in the US.

Oh I think I’ve got it, thank you! I had worked out the anagram but couldn’t understand why it was that. Is the definition actually the last 4 words?

Yes, last 4 words. Sorry, I had forgotten the clue - I thought it ended "Swift?"

ChrisE thank you. I thought the misdirection re name was clever and had me heading down all sorts of rabbit holes.
