CHIN is a guess (but only that) for 2a

Raffles thanks for your help!
Sometimes if I sit there trying to get the answer it doesn't work. So I go away and come back and I get the answer.
I made a few mistakes first off :)

( do you like the Raffles books, film and series?)

Cheers NCW - there’s a crack in everything; that’s how the light gets in😉. With the Craptic it’s not as if we can resort to the OED for help/corroboration.

(My T is for Thug, although I liked Anthony Valentine. I swear mightily, but in proper Victorian English.
Viz started out in Rag-mag format, although the lads frowned upon students - initial price 20p and 30p students😁. They, I think, considered students in the main just entitled social welfare scroungers.
It seems only right that after a lifetime of 'choice' words (and toilet humour) they should come up with an ASBO who swears in proper Victorian English. And a crossword!)
