Doc’s come in for quite a lot of flak on this forum recently - so I’m saying that I felt this was quite a decent puzzle - even though the theme was not what you might expect from the Speccie…

I'm guessing this is a British tv quiz show? (Aussie here) 8 out of 10 cats? which I might have seen only once. And I suppose it has some theme words. Might try to watch tonight.

On another matter, it seems that DOC did not accept there was an error in #2694. Funnily enough I had initially thought it was LION, only because it seems it's a brand of camping gear.

I read elsewhere that the error was acknowledged (though not in the print edition for some technical reason).

Blackcat5, Yes it is a British TV show but not the one you mention. Google Alexander Armstrong and you'll find the one it is.

Oh interesting. That's good. Because I'd to think my name was drawn from the hat but I missed out by one letter! BTW how many entries do think are received on average?

Thank you. Heard of that one too. Now I'm not sure it was Doc but a recent crossword was themed on The Thursday Murder Club, which is also connected. Love Richard Osman. I only know most brit comedians via Would I lie to You.

Will37....if you do online banking you should be able to pay it in yourself by scanning it with your smart phone....

Scarlett - Yes, I know that's the case. It's just that cheques are so rare these days that I've not yet had to do it.
