13a is quite complicated. The footballer was very famous in the 60s - Brazilian
I can't add anything further to the hint for 5d without spoiling

Thanks, Chrise. I'd just gone to the Crossword Solver and found 13, which I can figure out except for the 2nd and 3rd letters (yes, the footballer is one of the tiny number of names I know!) I think there may have been earlier hints about those 2 letters, will check back.

So I now have 3 identical crossers for 5d, and Crossword solver offers I think it was 7 alternatives, none of which seem to fit. I'll think more about the 1d/9a pair, with your hint about "de-tailed". Should have spotted that one.

Came out of shower, had another look at my 5d, and of course it's obvious. I think I'd searched Crossword Solver for my crossers on odds not evens,which explains why none of the answers fitted! Shower obviously woke me up.

So just 1d, 9a to consider.

All done: LOI 9.

For 5, I'd thought of "broadcast" as scattered, or a definition, not spotted it as a homophone indicator. And I had solved it really, just didn't look for the sound alike! Then, with the crosser, 9a leapt off the page.

An entertaining puzzle (though I don't like 18a).
