I am completely unsure of my answer for 15a - I can't see how the first part fits with the clue. It's possible that my 3d is wrong, I have a F as a crosser? I'm also struggling with 14d, any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks ChrisE, I did have 15a right, but would never have guessed that word in 14 as a definition of "separation"!

I've just lost the thread I was writing. Doh!
I'm struggling with Qaos. I started well, but soon ground to a halt. I'm hoping the hints above will help me out.

Thank you Geeker for the reminder about the quick cryptic. Perhaps I should have started with that. Thanks to Brendan for giving me a new word for cat. I've never heard that before, but I am puzzled by needing the same letter (H) twice.

Some hints for long ones in the bottom half of the grid may help. What about 22ac? I have the 9th letter. The use of the word footballer in 27ac immediately put me off. Do I need to know a footballer? What is the definition? I assumed it was Excellent, but it didn't get me very far. What about 20ac - I have the last letter as N.

I'll be back

27 is a dd, Excellent and the name of a footballer. I guessed the solution but needed Google to confirm the athlete.
