One of these days I might get better.

I have solved 1d and 10a with significant checks, deletions and re-trying.

1a - Clubs are able to sell back drink (6)…how do you approach this?

4a - Moderate payment in advance expected to arrive (6)

What on earth is this?!

Druh6sm.
For 4 Down, the answer is a word meaning to moderate, calm down. The 'payment in advance' is a three-letter word, followed by a three-letter word meaning 'expected to arrive' ( a baby or a bill, say!)

For 1a, when you see clubs (or any of the card suits) you can take a guess it may be a single letter (of course that’s not always the case, but it is here). ‘Back’ is likely to indicate a reversal, so something meaning ‘able to sell’ in reverse, and that leaves drink as the definition.
