Sorry, I didn't think the Do***an reference could have been a spoiler unless one had gotten practically all the letters of the 2 clues. The association is so funny that it must have been intended by Imogen.

BTW, I keep forgetting that Imogen = Vulcan and is not a female.

Lovely - managed it without the forum, which is rare for me, but lots of enjoyment.
I got 7d and 14d fairly early, which gave an easy guess at the last word of 12a, and the last three letters then pointed to the tropical land so the passing of the rest of the clue felt straightforward.
