I am struggling to parse these two:

23a One needs to get over being crushed by spirited female, once and for all (7). I have F ? N ? L ? Y so assume it's Finally but apart from f=female and the the last 4 words being the definition, I don't see how.

2d Hard right politician gets elected on doing a U-turn with Unite (5). I have N ? G ? L so I think Nigel (Farage, maybe?) I inderstand Ni = elected on doing a U-turn, but...?

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

i think the spirited female might be FILLY, with AN for onereversed inside. not very good!

gel could mean unite - they gelled together. again a bit weak.

23. Spirited female is “filly” + a reversal of “an” (one)
