I need 22 across to nail the current crossword := Question put to idiot political leader : "Why don't politicians think before communicating via this" (8).The only answer I can think of is chaplain with chain and pl in the middle but it doesn't seem right and messes up 20 down. Help!

4dn. First three words definition? Got ultimately funny, but don’t see where comic comes in.

Hardy - Laurel and Hardy - is the comic, that's the definition.

The first three words in the clue give Hard and the Y is the last letter of 'funny'.

PS It's always good to give the clue.
