18 Down - Jolly tea in carriage seat (8)

The answer is ARMCHAIR, but I can't see how it works. Seat is presumably the definition, tea is preumsbaly CHA or CHAI but I can't for the life of me see what jolly or carriage have to do with it. Please enlighten me!

Ah - and AIR for carriage?

Thanks - somehow I've never heard of Jolly = RM before...

Hi Bassett,

Yes, "small" is correct - "mall" is what "a (level) shaded walk" used to be called in London (Chambers)
