CLUELESS 658

Welcome to Clueless, our informal weekly clue-setting competition. The idea is to compose a cryptic clue for a given word or phrase. The winner of the previous week's competition both sets the word to be clued and judges the entries for the current week. The judge's decision is final and reasons may or may not be given at the judge's discretion. It is customary for the judge to donate a virtual prize to the winner.

Multiple entries may be submitted and new competitors are particularly welcome. Feel free to give an explanation if you think it might help. Clues should be submitted by 8:00 pm (UK time) on Wednesday November 22nd.

Good luck!

Future setters should note that a complete list of previously used words on Clueless, Peer Review and Weekend Peer Review is available at https://tinyurl.com/4dzss5np

Special 'Guess the Fourth Word' challenge'
Following jono's idea when setting all three words in the week's clue-writing competitions, the words for Clueless, Peer Review and Weekend Peer Review will have something in common. The sequence will be completed by the fourth word (two possible solutions), which solvers may suggest at any point. I hope I won't make this too easy by revealing that all four words have five letters. I could have chosen several other words for Clueless and Peer Review. The choice was more limited for Weekend Peer Review. For the fourth word there are only two answers allowed in Collins Scrabble Words 2021.

Sorry about the repeat word. My excuse is that the list hasn't been updated but I should have remembered such a recent word.

I will let it stand because a change might give too much away in the supplementary challenge.

Apologies for poor updating on the list. I have been doing it weekly as we go along. Missed one! I have checked back over the last month. All OK
