Thank you, chaise and jono - I've never heard of them! Though having googled, I recognise a couple of song titles ...

I'm not doing at all well even though I have now got the theme. Only four done after several hours. I was hoping for more hints on here, but think I may have left my brain behind today. I started after the quick crossword and lunch as usual after a busy morning of chores, but kept falling asleep. I asked my husband (the musical one) for a Schubert prelude but he only knows of one. He's keen jazz fan too, so I'll see if he can shed any light on that clue. He's given me a couple of Bohemian composers, but I can't see how they fit in, so I guess it is more cryptic than that.

I'll be back in a bit if I haven't given up.

It's a more literal Scubert "prelude".
There's a well known Bohemian composer with the same name as a type of thematic.

Nearly done now with a whole lot of googling, just the 24s left. Can anyone give me a tiny nudge for one of them? Thanks in advance.

both the 24s a bit weak. across a 3 letter (extreme) fan backwards, then a standard one letter addition, to give something a thematic might produce
down a legal term for a "wrong" reversed

After lots of googling, I've made some progress all of the left side complete including the "Schubert" clue Chris. But still got the Bohemian composer to find. I'll keep at it a bit longer.
