Wow - it's hard this week! Couldn't do last week's at all!

12a Brand article ahead of town with veteran presenter (4,8)
?o?n ?a?e?e??
I'm assuming it's the name of a presenter (who I've never heard of) and his first name is probably John? Can anyone help?

Nearly there (I think!) but help with this last one would be much appreciated ...

24a Don't finish room with this material (5)
?O?L?

And I've got 13d (again, I think!) but I don't understand why. Can anyone explain the answer?

Thank you so much!

24 A six letter room in your house (though other people use other names for it) loses its last letter, giving a fabric.

For 13 D, It'd be useful if you told us the clue, number of letters etc....

Thank you Malone!

Silly me!
13d Good deal of mixed sorbets in wooden trap (7,3)
L?B?T?R ?O?
The whole would appear to be the trap and answer with all those letters is fairly obvious. Anagram of sorbet without final s? Why? I cannot understand the answer and I know one of you clever clogs out there will be able to put me to shame about my dimness!

Thanks, LesleyD

13 Maybe... Lot. good deal, anagram(mixed) of 'sorbet' + Po, wooden?

The spare S is worrying... or a mistake?

i suspect a mistake - "sorbet" would be fine.
odd clue, though - "wooden" is entirely superfluous.

Thanks, ChrisE. Wouldn't we need something for the Po?

Hmm.
LOT, SORBET*, PO also generates an extra O and then there’s the problem of getting the construction to work, not to mention the extra S in “sorbets”.
Something not quite right here…
