thanks brendan
sorry jono, don't get that. 3/8 of 4 gives a fraction!

The first four words of 6, 24 clue are the definition. The first word of the answer tells you what to do with the rest of it. (Bearing in mind what is usually cryptically meant by 'leader in'.)

Like a lot of Paul puzzles took me a while to get going. But yes, after that quite straightforward but some nice clues. Not sure I understand 16d. Second word seems to be defined twice.

COD 6,24. Very clever.

Enjoyed this, but took me a while to get going. Loved 14, 9 - made me laugh, a lovely clue. Struggled with 6, 24, but everything else was fairly straightforward in the end.

I usually just skip Paul’s crosswords as they are generally impenetrable, although if you can get a toehold somehow they are often worth the slog, as this one proved to be.

No tick from the app despite completing this one, so I must have an error or two in there…

12a I have an answer defined by the first two words (minus the ‘s) but the rest if the clue is unfathomable even with hints kindly supplied by jono. I’m up for a bit of maths but really don’t know what this is all about

Thanks for the hints to my Last One In 6,24. Very clever!

15d such a lovely word, maybe not used as often as it deserves to be

2,28 I think is particularly fine. What a clever misdirection in the definition

22a is very clever. Neatly constructed

Hi FemmeNoire,
Now you mention it I don’t have a tick from the app either and I’ve checked everything. Hmm.
Another way to think of 12 is “say what you see”, which is three quarters of ???? … and that would equal 3/8ths.
