51 Down - "Unoccupied island, mined finally for sulphur (4)
I guess the answer must be "IDLE", but how does "LE" equate to
sulphur?

Island = ISLE with the S(ulphur) replaced by D from (mine)D

Fun puzzle, just a few I can't see (you weren't alone on 51d, Rocketman).

7d Unwelcome character of slime on outside of stale fish egg (10)
Must be 'gooseberry', but I can't work out how berry = fish egg.

20a Fount of some Indo-European languages (6)
i?a?i?

7d. Chambers has 'berry' as "A lobster's or crayfish's egg", but they are not fish.
20a. Is there a misprint? ITALIC is a 'font', and 'related to Indo-European languages'

Thanks mattrom.
7d seems a tad sloppy.
20a. It's not my fat fingers, the clue definitely says "fount" not "font".

I just re-checked, and Chambers does have, for 'fount'
"A complete assortment of types of one sort, with all that is necessary for printing in that kind of letter (also font)"

Mattrom, I think the Times Crossword Editor has mentioned in the past that the puzzles aren't solely dependent on Chambers. In the Oxford Dictionary of English, 'Berry' is listed (at definition 3) as 'a fish egg or similar'.

A friend I taught with, a graphic designer, was always annoyed when IT people referred to "fonts", insisting that "fount" was the correct word.
