I want to say Croc, but it's the clue I'd like to understand.

Decrepit would allude to it being an anagram of type?
Or a synonym if type?

& getting end away, I'm sure that's about losing the last letter?

Crock, as in an 'old crock',decrepit type, loses the last letter, gets the end away.
