Is the definition of 17A any more than "what"?

Some great clues today - too many to choose a favourite. Enjoyed the rhyming pair.

Don't understand 17d though; neither the parsing nor the answer (which doesn't mean quaking fits IMO) so it's probably wrong, but nothing else seems to fit.

Hi Julesvern, I had to check the definition of 17d but “quaking fits” is lifted straight from Chambers. The first two letters are a reversal, then a word from the clue and a two letter abbrev.

David W, I took the definition of 17a to be “what might be RE-presented” as in presented again and again.
With ‘anticipating’ being indication that ‘bits of my advice’ is preceded by ‘do good’.

Could be wrong, I wasn’t sure about this either.

Not one of my best days today I'm afraid !

What is the parsing of the last part of 18a?
What is the relevance of the first word in the 19d clue?
How are the first two letters of 7d derived from the clue?

Why do so many quiz/crossword setters assume everyone has read Harry Potter books?

Hi CD, 18a is an anagram (10 letters) around a three letter word for soldiers.
19d dd where run is in the cricketing sense.
7d first two letters come from “very” in the clue

I’m with you re HP!

1d is definitely my cod today as well , it appeals to my sense of humour :)

It's seems I'm not alone in struggling with some of the parsing today, I'll be double checking fifteen squared next week for sure

17a seems to be very week for the last two letters
17d seems to be a very old meaning of the word, not it's common usage
3d still not got the parsing, but I will persevere;)

Thanks Jono.
That all makes sense now

All my lateral thinking seems to have deserted me today!

Thanks Jono for the parsing of 17d, all clear now - although I had never heard of that word as a definition for quaking fits before. You live and learn!

Thanks also for explaining the parsing of 3d - I'd forgotten that I hadn't understood that either!
