Didn’t look like a quickie at first. I don’t get “conned, so they say” in 11a, although I have the answer. Neat puzzle. Thanks, syzzie and sun ray.

Funny thing, "left" and "right" in the instructions are arbitrary. Due to an error, I entered 1d wrong and ended up with the 2-word unclueds in the right diagram. But since the diagrams are disjoint, I can simply imagine them reversed. 😊

aristo, in 11a replace the apostrophe by a space. Took me a long time to see.
