The other way might be 6 + y

Guardian clue was shown as "thrice as loud"

I searched for the pronunciation on google and the first hit was an (admittedly American) video which offered 2 different pronunciations.

I put a short sound in between letters 4 and 5 so it sounds like the place in Libya when I say it, maybe it's a northern thing.

Sorry Fitz. You'll have to explain to a thicko. How does "set off" equate to ???????

I guess it means "begin some process", was a bit of a weird one.

Agreed with jono. I wrote in the solution, struggled with parsing, finally arrived at that interpretation, which is technically OK but aesthetically less than pleasing.

I 7d my robot vac cleaner and it then set off round the room

I also set off my dishwasher and washing machine when it was 7d

It works for me :)
