I've done most of this one, but have bafflements in the top right & the bottom left.

I hope that assistance with these two will help kick start the flagging grey cell.

9A - First trace of this compound comprises carbon and silicate (6)
?A?C??
&
44D - Welcomes eating certain pork, but not on a barbecue (7)
??????I

Thanks in advance as usual

9a looks like Talcum, a powdery silicate, first letter of trace + Al (aluminium) + cum (Latin with or and).

44d looks like Hibachi, a type of grill, hi twice around bac(on)

Quisling

Thanks for this. I'd wondered about HIBACHI, but couldn't spot the pork anywhere till you pointed it out.

I'll now wrestle further.

I may return........

Quisling, please can you explain where the Aluminium comes from? It isn’t mentioned in the clue. Am I missing something?

I also have a query of my own: 1 across.

Rockers maybe have parts to belt out (7). The letters I have are S - A - I - G.

Please can anyone put me out of my misery?

Sorry, I was going mad. Nothing to do with Aluminium. My parsing was nonsense. I think it’s T + c (carbon) in Alum, a compound. Is that better?

Could be SEATING. Rockers can be rocking chairs, and it’s eat (have, as in food) inside sing (belt out)
