Many thanks again syzygy and sunray. I wasn't aware of the "technical term" 1a before this puzzle and the couple I hadn't heard or seen before made me chuckle.

Thanks syzygy and sunray, excellent as usual.
I also was unfamiliar with the key term. Several unusually tricky clues.
A couple of clues were surprisingly US-dependent, UK and other solvers might have some difficulty with them.

All those emails with jokes had included this form of humor. I remembered some and so it was easy to solve this puzzle. Especially 7d/11d.

33a capital of bank is b. i was not aware that capital could mean the leading part of a word.

Aha, I didn't know that Harpers crosswords were here too! I only came to see if anyone had done today's Guardian 28,841 in 12 minutes.

I usually find Harpers to be less difficult that most Guardian Prize puzzles, primarily I think because the grid allows for more crossers.

I'll know where to come next time, if I get stuck.
