Hijk... glad I could help.

I used to like Jono's clue, but it got tiresome when it got too many mentions. Some purists don't like it, but I can't remember why.

Malone, I think “what’s your favourite clue?” is a near impossible question to answer and fraught with so many difficulties :-)

Yes, Jono, 'favourites' are tricky in most things - and clues are no exception. I think your clue and a couple of others (those for Patella and Rebelled, I think) used to feature in just about every article on crosswords.

I agree both. HIJKLMNO is a cliché too, but has sentimental value. I think we likely have a new favourite clue every time we solve a rotter!
Similarly, Livin' on a Prayer will always be the best song ever, but we can still enjoy a spot of Brahms temporarily.
Sorry, going off-thread. Jono I could do with some scrambled eggs - yum yum.

“Two girls, one on each knee”, yes that has to rank :-)

“Rebelled” I don’t know

I've no idea how to add a new post on this site so I just jump on to the last one. Am very stuck on 23 across. Conservative centre mobilised : indignant Corbyn heads for way out (9) Any ideas ?

It looks like ECCENTRIC. Anagram (mobilised) of C (conservative) + CENTRE + first letters of Indignant Corbyn. Definition is way out
