Thank you Brendan, I was barking up the wrong tree there!!

At the trickier end of the Everyman spectrum I thought, but all good fun. Recognising the now well used “alliteration grid” helped. I can’t find support for nephew (maybe someone can) but the solution was perfectly clear. Favs were 10, 15 and 22.

I don't usually persist more than an hour and after an hour I had about a third solved. Looked up the answers and there are more than usual that I would never have got. I still can't see how 20a works . Well done anyone solving this unaided.

Must have been an easier one today as I finished it over my Sunday morning cuppa in bed rather than downstairs over brunch. Recognising the alliteration grid certainly helped. I’m pretty sure we’ve seen that abbreviation for nephew before (and had similar grumbles). FOI 1a (looked for the alliteration), LOI 15d (my last 4 were all SW like yesterday). CODs 1d & 15d for me.

Hello, I'm struggling with 20 across, I have -o-d-a-s, but I can't parse my answer for 15 down, so not convinced about the 'o'.

Your crossers are correct. Parsing for 20a breaks down as 7+1.
15d parses as a word for without (French, but it has come into English use) around a mathematical function.
