Hi Gooner,

I think Rover is a dog and is in a "parking" bay/space howling at the moon which Chambers gives as "a futile gesture" so "pointlessly" - I think?

SB, I made sure to check Chambers before I dealt with the Room, chance! Room is defined as 'opportunity', and 'chance' too means opportunity'. Think of it in a not totally literal sense -" That gives us room to manoeuvre" , say, when haggling.

A monstrous task solving this puzzle, in more ways than one! I'm left with the top half to complete, and would appreciate a little boost to rekindle the fire!
I Down:- "Within Homer's house perhaps there's name for later poet's"
(4,7) I have "D" to start with, and possibly C---A-E towards the second word. Often Homer Simpson gets involved when it's a crossword clue.

Many thanks, Stevie - The "Homer" connection is obviously the bird term in this case. Thanks again.
