The basic ingredient has to be "melted" to form the dish. That's included in the definition of 14ac in Chambers.

All done except for 25a. -ar-en. Is that right? Is it another cooked dairy product or a place where 14a reportedly live?

Clevertask, I think your E might be wrong - I have an O.

Yes, I have an o also. Not a very well-known kind of the theme, I think. If you have Bradford's lists you'll find it there

Filled 15d early on without parsing clue properly. All OK now. Thanks for all your help. Hmm, wonder what I'll have for tea? 14a maybe?

Struggling with 25ac - have ?AR?ON - only cheese I can find is ircano which doesn't help unless Chambers gives carion as a variant on carrion?

Can someone nudge me in the right direction?

Thanks

I lived in Rome for a while, and I never heard of it, but I should have, by the look of it.

I enjoyed this puzzle, probably because I could do it! Liked 39ac, remember learning about one in Prague when I was at school. Anyone else remember this?
