Could be that the fish is brought from west (reversed) and is to the east of WA(n)?

Sorry, that doesn't work either. I wonder if the setter made the same mistake as I just did?

I followed Jazzgirl’s link and the original clue is written “east to west”

I've just checked the clue on the CC site and it actually reads

Flounder - short white fish brought from east to west (6)

Just thought that I would use the opportunity to promote the Crossword Centre puzzles to anyone who doesn’t already tackle them. Sorry, I missed out 'from' east initially (it relies on 'brought from' for the direction of travel but, as I said, it doesn't quite work].
