13 across: The Iliad's beginning in Homeric language (4) The answer seems to be iota.
I would appreciate any help in parsing. Thanks in advance. Roger.

The first letter of Iliad is Iota, in the Latin alphabet (Alpha, beta etc)

Adultery is cheating, endless = lose the last letter. A is in the clye. Te is the case of The, ie outside letters Adulter a te. Doctor, verb.

Just a pedantic point, Iota is part of the Greek alphabet, not Latin.
