Ok, read the hint for 6D it does have something to do with sport as in King George Stakes or whatever is one of these, which makes my parsing of the answer better now ;)

(Late to the party, but...)
Jono @ 10:00 - that's odd, I have got only a dozen answers but 11d and 26a are among them and felt OK to me?

Along with most of the others that I've read so far I've been finding this very tough. Tramp has taken over from Vlad as the setter who causes me to quil when I see his byline.

A curiosity: often the little four letter jobs are among the most tricky clues. This time I seem to have got all four of those and I'm still well under half way through.

I thought 26A was a bit weak (does not have to be hot, broadcaster is a bit weak as well tbh) but I was fine with 11D, since it is a colloquialism.

Hi PS,

26a - I think "broadcaster is the letters around H(ot) - Chambers gives that 5 letter word as "sowing by broadcasting) making the clue an &lit.

Woops! is that clue a bit close to the answer? If so I'll ask Norah to remove it.

YLSNED Brendan :)

I still want to know about these cheerleaders who don't use pompoms though ;)

YLSNED indeed, like I just learned what that acronym means 😀

I think if I say anymore on the cheerleaders I'll just dig myself in deeper, suffice it to say .... I have a very active imagination 😎

Hi PS @60

Once you'd pointed out the error of my ways with 2d, I managed to get 1ac and hence 1d.

I've also got 3d and just parsed it and 12ac. I have an answer for 4d that fits my crossers but I can't parse. So just the north east corner now.

I still haven't worked out 6d, 5ac, 10ac, 7d and 8d, but that's not bad for me at this time. What is the definition for 6d? Is it handicap or having led?

4D parses as 1, 11
For 6D the definition is handicap.

Hi Roof,

4d - "Prince" is just the first letter then you have the rest of the answer meaning "acts carrying on".

6d - Definition is "handicap".
