Re comment by buzzb at #26, the problem is that the letters in the cells encountered in order do not spell out the answer (counting a letter in the barred-off cell). There is an extraneous letter that has to be ignored, The preamble does not describe what actually happens.

Loge, your kind comment on the 3rd thread was much appreciated. I don’t intend to disappear from the forum but I will not visit that particular thread again - at least while the current atmosphere there persists.

Well that took a while but a fair shower of pennies today accompanied some early morning cups of tea. Having finished, I am in the “unambiguous” camp as far as the preamble is concerned. It does need very precise (in my neck of the woods we might even say “perjink”) reading, though. Very satisfying and a great challenge. Thank you, Lath.

Candlestick. If the end game was real, the move wouldn't physically obliterate something, that something would be removed and placed 'outside the arena'.

I think murky's issue (#34) can be resolved if the sequence of letters is determined as follows:

At each step in the sequence choose the letter that vacates it's starting position (for whatever reason). That eliminates the extraneous letter...

Has anyone heard if we are getting a Listener over the Christmas weekend? Otherwise it’s a gap of two weeks - can we survive?
