I'm having problems with parsing two of the clues so explanations as to how you arrived at the answer would be helpful. Tia.
Faint report of crime by policeman close to scene (7) S?N?O?E.
I think it's SYNCOPE (faint) but don't understand the SYNE part of the clue. I am guessing that COP is the policeman?
Even if old showing some real beauty (4) ?L?E. ALBE is a hidden word but I still can't completely parse it. Thank you.

Syn sounds like sin, crime, Cop policeman and add E from the end of (close to ) 'scene'.

Even if... Albe is an old-fashioned alternative to 'albeit', even if. The 'old' shows it's an archaic word, not a current one.
