47d " A jolly girl - and fleet" (6). ?R???A. Looks like it could be ARMADA for fleet, but if so don't see how jolly fits in?

42. A = in clue. RM = Royal Marine, slang term is 'jolly' +Ada, girl.

Great improvement on last week, though some obscurities ('pleistocene', 'idola') meant more Googling than I like.

Stuck with these.

27a Crustacean current lawmaker found crossing Italian river? (6)
Isopod? I = current, Italian river = Po, but how does sod = lawmaker?

3d Dread losing son before sharp double bend: you must cross that river! (7)
Looks like ‘Yangtze’, can't begin to parse it though.

3 D. The 'dread' would have been Angst, drop the 's', lose son,. add Z, sharp double bend, and put it inside Ye, you. Y angt z e.

Re46. I should have added that plumb (as a verb) is to sound with a plumb or plummet, as the depth of water
