Does the three indicate whether the double bond is between the third last and second last carbon atom of the chain or between the third and fourth last?

Between 3 and 4.
Another consequence of the misunderstanding is that some people think that omega-6 is twice as good!

Our local drama group recently put on a Christmas show for children. The Prime Minister's apology reminded me of the Wicked Witch, after having been foiled in her evil schemes, promising (through gritted teeth) to be good in future.

I've just seen an advert for TalkTalk broadband. It gave the speed in megabits/second. That's verging on unethical, as speeds are usually given in megabytes/second. The megabits version would be 8 times slower than implied!

Another advert - I can't remember if I've mentioned this one before. A decongestant called "Sterimar" that's made from 100% pure natural sea water. So it's....sea water?

Did you see this clue in the TImes last week?

Do reasonably well trained Omega-1 staff do ok? (4,1,4,4,2)

From what you say, I think Omega-1 does exist.

I suppose if the double bond was between the last 2 carbon atoms it might be an omega-1?

Jigjag, thanks. I didn't even look at today's puzzle, but it was nice to hear of the return of some old friends. I wasn't quite so pleased to bump into this old one yesterday, from the Sunday Telegraph...

Stage imperfection in audition? (5)

The ? isn't enough to redeem it!

I cant solve your clue, possibly because it is not a good one. Sorry.

Grunger

If you are looking in, the Times crossword this week has lots of jobs you have done. Chanteuse, huckster, cox, bagpiper and potholer. Is there something in this?
