16d: one letter for caught + 3 letters for ancient and the next 4 letters means a division or form of poetry.
18d: 2 letters for blood pressure + i rising inside the in french + 1 letter for lake + 1 letter for man. Quite a convoluted clue.

18d is enough to make your blood pressure rise! ;-)

Sorry, as Jono says, abbreviation for 'caught' rather than 'about' (but it's the same letter either way)!

Some pretty obtuse clues this week! Any hints on the parsing of 4d would save me pulling my remaing hair out.

4d: it is an anagram, with half of ‘succeeds’ + ‘hulk’, etc.
