The reason I came on here was to ask about 18ac; Sign seen outside a locksmith's premises (7,4).
The answer seems to be Barbers Pole.

Is this because traditionally some barbers also cut keys? In which case someone who might (tenuously) be called a locksmith might actually be a barber?
If so, there would not seem to be any real cluing here; it's more general knowledge. Or am I missing something?

18a Lock or locks is your hair so a barber could be a locksmith. A smith is a person who is skilled in creating something with a specified material.
