Whether my previous answer is helpful depends on how many clues you have solved. I realised that a possible word was emerging in reverse from just inside the bottom R. H. corner.

As far as I can make out, the necessary "shaded" word begins with the first letter of 10D and refers to a phenomenon identified by Charles Kingsley (author of "The Water Babies") in the 1850s (!).

The "unclueds" are all examples of things which were the subject of interest which led to the phenomenon being identified.

If it's any consolation, I found this one to be pretty tough going too.

A real slog and not much fun. Clues too contrived and theme so far away from common knowledge as to be pointless... IMHO...

.... and far too many clues / answers where chambers was needed for verification. Still can't parse some of them ....but heigh ho ...time to move on...
