Rough order of solving was NW, NE, SE, SW.

From the NW, was clearly highly likely to be a pangram, but no 'W' to be found, despite 90% solved.

Then put in 25A and thought this was going to be the most beautiful thing ever, until, somewhat sadly, solved 16D/26A and the moment was lost. Not like tears in rain, just lost.

Probably too much Listener, not enough Times Cryptic, TBH.

10 across is an anagram - definition is 'old head saw'
7 down - 3 letter word for top + 4 letter word for part round I (2nd letter of Aintree)

24a. Cut that’s bound to include page five hundred (6) L*P*E*
Looks like LOPPED but parsing ? D = 500 , P = Page , but ?

To LOPE is to bound, with the P for page inside and D at the end

Many thanks , I was thinking of bound in another sense - ie covering. Take care.
