Thanks Rossim

8ac I've written down all the four letter synonyms for labour and inserted EAN. Then tried ENA as you suggested, but to no avail. I'm now trying a glass of wine.

Oh no, roof! You have done nothing wrong, except miss the answer!

Chris and Rossim

4d I have used "no" for number and "c" for 100. I have ??cation. I'm assuming the definition is symbols.

I've now got 24 ac, which means my 19d is wrong. Is the definition withdrew?

I'm a keen gardener, but didn't know the plant. I looked it up and found it is a generic name for a certain sort of plant.

Yes but I don't hit it too far anyway. It's a communal garden over a few acres but i'm the only one out there.

4d the 100 isn't c
19d is a bit obscure. The golf shot is something that shouldn't be mentioned. "Withdrew" is the definition.

Hi Chrise

I got 5d, which meant my answer for 13ac is wrong, but that gave me 8ac, which in turn gave me another answer for 100 and thus 4d. So all finished apart from 13ac. But I'm happier now and can eat my dinner.

19d I didn't know the golf shot.
However, I found a synonym for withdrew and took away the R. Then I was back to google again!

I'm struggling with 7a, any hints? It must be straightforward, but I'm not getting it. Also can't parse 1d. Any help?

Okay, penny just dropped with 7a. And I think the first word of this post links well with the last half of 1d. Which just leaves the first half...

Hi Grum,

7a - Single letter for "100" + O + single letter for "100" + O + 3 letter acronym for "teachers" - definitions is "might be kind of shy" (think 'funfairs')

1d - 2 letter "men" (another acronym - as in the army) reversed/"bowled over" + 2 letters for "fine".
