12 Down - "Gently featured in detective fiction, a dagger". The answer appears to be DIRK, and assuming that the "GENTLY" part refers to Inspector George Gently, how does this tie in with DIRK?

douglas adams - dirk gently's holistic detective agency.

the sequel - the long dark teatime of the soul - did me a great favour. he visits a house and describes it - it sounded just like ours! he said he expected he would find every dylan album up to blood on the tracks somewhere in the house. i had all the others, but not blood on the tracks, so i bought it. it soon became my favourite.

Many thanks Grandpa Gruffalo and ChrisE. I wasn't aware of THAT fictional Mr. Gently! Interested to hear of the Dylan connection, Chris, as I have most of Dylan's albums - great artist!
