Good day. I have completed a Spectator crossword where the preamble states that the poet's name must be shaded. I may be over-thinking this but is shading different from highlighting and if it is, how do I shade the name?

Todorovia, that's often puzzled me too! I sometimes just use a light pencil and shade in the involved squares, other times I've done the usual highlighting - a line round the letters or word - without thinking.

Thank you, Malone. Without really thinking about it too much, I used a fluorescent marker to highlight the name and then wondered if that would be too far away from 'shading' to be acceptable. I will just use a light pencil if I come across this 'shading' requirement again. Your reply is appreciated.
