I must be the only one stuck on my last few have tried all the words in my bradfords for no 9 but got nowhere (9) Unexpectedly unlatch and find the gym -but did it exist Had an answer for 38 but doesn’t match will work and have looked up all words meaning will 38 but such craft will work (7) also getting nowhere with 55 soldier at end of sortie had the fight to bring back the spoils (9) please help I am tearing my hair out and lay awake thinking of them.

9. Anagram of words 2,4,5,6 in the clue will become a ghost ship of the past. Another clue is last word is nationality of a european and the last 3 letters are man.
38. Another word for will (as in will do) forms the 1st 5 letters and the last 2 short word for happening in hospital hospital. Answer boat.
55. Lowest rank in army 7 letters + 2 letters at the end of 2 words in clue. Answer boat.

sorry but just found this thread and you seem very knowledgeable and helpful! I am struggling with the last four of this very good puzzle!
Any help with numbers 10, 20, 21 & 97 would be very gratefully received
10 - Nothing clear, unfortunately enveloped in gas in the boats (8)
20 - Put your foot in it - a query surrounds the vessel (6 )
21 - Doctor, enthralled by destiny, had time to become a high-flyer ( 7, 4)
97 - Well-organised charmer all in tune around most of the oceans ( 5, 9 )

Can try and reciprocate with some other answers if necessary!

I'm going to cheat and give you the answers. At least what I think they are. I'll you work them out.

97. ELLEN MACARTHUR

many thanks! I must admit I had worked out wherry before i got to look on here for any response....but help with the other three was brilliant! Only trouble is that it makes me realise how silly I was not to get the answers without a nudge!!

I'm probably missing something obvious, as I dont see that anybody has asked for a hint for any of these: -
44. Mother, unhappy about article in newspaper (8)
71. Taste wines not showing in the middle vessel (4)
73. Merry man who gives the OK is good for a flutter (5,5)

73 - got this now - obvious as soon as i saw right 5-letter word for 'merry'
