I really enjoyed this. I used quinapalus quite a lot but found the reduced subsidiary indications/answers challenging (in a good way). My only gripe is the missing consonant from the authors name in the asterisked cells. There has been little comment here so is “Y” generally accepted as a vowel? I didn’t find out about the missing bars until I had finished.

I’m struggling to understand the instructions for filling in the radials. Are all the six-letter entries real words? Also, for clues with original lengths of 8 do you omit the same letter twice?

etoucan, could you share that parsing for 27 with me? I'm fairly sure I have the answer (beginning RH...) but can't see it

numbskull, the entries are not real words and you omit the relevant letter wherever it occurs, so in a clue with a length of 8 it will feature, and you will omit it, twice

phil535 - seems it is treated as either depending on how it is used - though generally considered a consonent (eg on 'Countdown') ...

Thank you mattrom. I stared at it so long I wasn't seeing 'square' any more

I have two radials left to crack, and as I’ve spent many hours on this now, a nudge would be great.
They are 6; safe land across river, and 16; union of cells (containing a G and an M!?)
