Thanks Tom - I mistook Basic Instinct for a couple of relevant letters and looked at offer as the main clue - doh!

Lio - not quite lion - hero; contains offer - bid

I was just about to post something along the lines of what AJT has posted - I think the other explanation is flawed because I can't see an anagram indicator for idol.

AJT & Crypto - that is the better explanation, with LIO welcoming BID - many thanks both. The "almost" does seem to refer to the "hero" rather than the "offer" and there is indeed an absence of indication of anagram of IDOL
