In addition to the 30a, 30d clues, I've also got an SC clash in the first cell of 31a which doesn't seem to fit anything either?

There is debate about this on the other thread. Some lists give only 15. Others like Wiki and Britannica give 17. The extra 2 are at 30 and 31.

If "bolt" is ARROW and it's peeled, that gives RRO so what is the actual answer?

Ok, I think I get it - it's (c)ARRO(t) that's peeled leaving ARRO when the answer should be ARROW meaning the W is unclued?

That's what I have Brendan. Then the single letter symbol is added in cell 30 to create the words at 30a and 30d.

Also, what is the answer to 30d? I have EAR and, according to Wiki, the missing element is 'Y', but why does Year = "plough"?

I fear my earlier Eureka may have been a tad premature!

Ear is right as the answer to the clue at 30 down but new words are created at 30a and 30d when the single letter symbol is placed in cell 30 That is the cell referred to in the preamble.
