IF reversed ('rejected') + a four-letter term used by proof-readers to indicate 'remove it'. The whole is a poem by William S.

Not a great clue, but I suspect it's the four-letter common name of a book from the New Testament ('A book') followed by ('on') a four-letter work meaning to desire (though not perhaps all that much), the whole meaning 'impersonates' ('is taking off').
