I know we're not voting, so hopefully I'm not out of court, but your telescopic would be so much neater without the word ' compact '. As the answer starts from the SC of ' disc', the preceding word has no purpose ! Nice surface otherwise !

Oh pants, I've only just spotted the last word of the sentence falls foul of the same thing. This happens a fair amount though, so not meaning to pick on you. Hey, maybe I'm in the minority here, I'm just parroting what I've picked up on the conventions of telescopic clues

That convention is widely touted, but many 'professional' setters ignore it; admittedly some setters are better than others

Few of us will ever rise to that level . .

For mine one or two extra words make the 'inclusion' a little harder to spot, which is really no bad thing

To me the most important requirement of a clue is that it is fair to the solver

Conventions . . including ending a sentence with a full-stop . . are there to be tested
