I am new to this forum and pretty poor at crosswords, the normal Times is a challenge for me. However a friend of mine is pretty good (as is his sister) and so I have been trying to help them solve this. Almost there but not quite.
However, and I take no credit for this, it came from his sister, in clue 12
"Is greedily devouring unkindness"
Is it an amazing coincidence, or deliberate that within the clue is the word GUNKIN, which means "To greedily swallow a liquid in large amounts causing gulping noises to occur."
There is a link that I am not allowed to post but if you Google it and look at the neologisms link you will see it.
This threw us off the scent for a long time!!
